I'm Kai, a San Jose-based designer, illustrator, and printmaker with experience in graphic and merchandise design, as well as hand-lettering and screenprinting.
When it comes to design, bright colors and dynamic letterforms make up the foundation of my style. I firmly believe in putting the “fun” in “functional” and enjoy taking a whimsical but practical approach to my work.
In my spare time I am usually petting cats (which I'm allergic to) and putting plants in my mouth, or printing in the home-based screenprinting studio my friend and I run, lovingly nicknamed "The Fungeon." You can also find me online at Instagram and Twitter.

My favorite part about screenprinting as a part of my process is the control I get over the interplay of colors between shirt and ink. I try to use the same thinking in my design work.
Making words fit perfectly where you want them to is hard! Plus, drawing letters from scratch is fun so I incorporate lettering whenever possible.
My goal in my own personal work is to authentically represent myself, so when I create for my clients I work closely with them to craft visual identities that accurately reflect their brand and message.
